EEC Africa presents the toughest cage fighting tournament in
all of Africa at tonight’s highly anticipated EFC23 event. Not only will two of
the EFC’s best champions defend their belts, but the finest fighters in the
country such as Martin van Staden, Boyd Allen and Wesley Hawkey, will also be
in action.
The main battle is the kind of thing that you will have you
entertained to the max. The biggest MMA connoisseurs and betting enthusiasts
could never resist a tackle between the biggest heavy weight breakers in the
business. The dreaded heavyweight champion Andrew ‘One Gear’ van Zyl defends
his belt for the first time against Sors ‘Guru’ Grobbelaar, a kickboxing specialist
with explosive feet and fists who by the way happens to be on a winning run of
KO victories.
Earlier this week the champion said that he is ready for the
fight. He knows he will be up against the most accurate hitter he has ever had
to deal with, ‘but he works hard on his stand - up constantly’.
At yesterday afternoons weigh-in - “It’s going to be an
explosive fight,” said Van Zyl of tonight’s encounter, “I plan to push him
hard.”
While “The Guru’s preparations have been running well. He
will be in better condition than he was when he knocked Bernardo Mikixi two
months ago’’. “We are also working hard on cardio because the battle could last
five rounds.”

In the other title fight Michiel Opperman will be defending his
welterweight belt against Dino "The Lion" Bagattin. In EFC history no
welterweight has ever successfully defended the title and Opperman is well
aware of this, if the Lions gate happens to slam in behind him.
Bagattin will take to the Hexagon ready to settle the score
in this must see EFC23 Grudge fight. When the fighters met at EFC12 Bagattin went
down in the second round after Opperman tackled the Lion with an extremely constricting
triangular choke. However since then Bagattin looks much better. He may not be a
rock-hard hitter, but his timing and striking accuracy has been extremely
impressive of late.
While Opperman has probably worked harder than almost anyone
else to complete to achieve his status as one of the best all rounded MMA
fighters of all time. Both fighters are exceptional on their feet and have
arguably the best jiu jitsu coaches in their corners so be rest assured that this
clash will explode as all the caged beasts attempt to destroy each other.
